H.U.G.S. 4 Childhood Cancer engages local communities to increase awareness surrounding childhood cancer and support families who have been impacted by childhood cancer.
H.U.G.S. has hosted #GoGold Days at various schools during September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Students wear gold and individuals who have been impacted by childhood cancer share their stories. Additionally, these schools host Gold Nights at school sporting events where their athletes will wear gold ribbons and socks as well as the student section wears gold shirts. H.U.G.S. has worked with organizations at The University of Alabama to distribute Gold ribbons to wear on a football game day in September.
H.U.G.S. has worked with local restaurants and businesses like Touchstone Crystal to raise funds and engage more people in the cause. This past September H.U.G.S. coordinated buildings like the RSA Towers in Montgomery and Mobile to be lit gold to spread more awareness. Every September, we attend CureFest USA to advocate, work with other non-profits, and garner public support for childhood cancer. It is one of the largest childhood cancer events in the country.
H.U.G.S. utilizes social media to share stories, opportunities to serve, and connect with childhood cancer families across the country. We share facts about the realities of childhood cancer as well as individuals' stories of childhood cancer.
